Fairpark is Planning for the CA Strawberry Festival & SB Co Fair in 2022

The SM Fairpark Board, as of Oct 12th, have announced the planning of the SM Valley Strawberry Festival & Santa Barbara Co Fair set for 2022. Dates for the Strawberry Festival are tentatively set for April 29th, 30th & May 1st, 2022, and the Santa Barbara County Fair is tentatively set for July 13th – 17th, 2022. We will be welcoming back those traditional staples at our Strawberry festival which include carnival rides, strawberry tasting, vendors and so much more. Our SB Co Fair will be featuring our in-person Junior Livestock Show & Auction, fair food, local acts, and live music that the Santa Maria Valley has come to love on our fairgrounds. Over the past 18 months the board, staff & community partners have worked hard to navigate these very difficult & uncertain times & we are EXCITED to be able to open the Fairpark up to our community for events. Our goal is not just to open back up, but to come back bigger & better and increase the overall experience you have at the Fairpark.

Our virtual auction will feature market beef, goat, sheep, swine, replacement heifers and industrial arts from our local 4-H, FFA, Grange and independent students. The auction is a great opportunity to support our youth who have made agriculture a priority in their life. 2021 Santa Maria Fairpark Strawberry Cruzin’ is a Success!

Strawberry Cruzin’ was held April 28th - May 2nd and over 2000 cars cruised through the event. The SM Fairpark Strawberry Cruzin’ was a “remain in your car” drive though experience which helped ensure the event could happen, without the fear of cancellation, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Interim CEO Autumn Acquistapace said, “We would like to thank everyone for coming out to support Strawberry Cruzin! The success of this event would not have happened without our community support, gracious sponsors, hardworking Fairpark Staff and Foundation, food vendors and our marketing agency S. Lombardi & Assoc. A special thank you to our partners in the media. Your coverage of the event was amazing! Strawberry Cruzin’ was a success because of hard working people and a community that doesn’t give up!” The event surpassed expectations and will be a big help sustaining the Fairpark financially this year. The SM Fairpark has already begun work on the next event which will be a modified
Fair.

SBCF Reveals plans for 2021 Livestock Show and Auction

SBCF Reveals plans for 2021 Livestock Show and Auction

With the current COVID-19 precautions in place, the Livestock Committee is moving forward to organize a virtual auction and show for the Santa Barbara County Fair scheduled to be held July 14-18, 2021. The Livestock Committee will try, as much as possible to keep the regularly scheduled dates, keeping in mind that show dates are subject to change. The virtual show and auction will only include large livestock (market beef, swine, sheep, and goats) and replacement heifers. Unfortunately, in 2021 there will be no poultry, rabbits, cavies, livestock breeding animals or showmanship. The still exhibit requirement for the livestock exhibitors has been removed. The Quality Assurance & Ethics Awareness Training remains a requirement. Our goal is to have the 2021 Virtual Livestock Show and Auction Guidelines available for exhibitors in late January.
The Santa Maria Fairpark continues to monitor State and Local Guidelines and will keep you informed in the coming months.
